What is private health insurance?

Ayse Updated by Ayse

In Germany, private health insurance is called Private Krankenversicherung (PKV) and is offered by different companies than public health insurance. Only around 10% of the German population is covered by private health insurance and there are restrictions in place dictating who can apply. Some people who can apply for private health insurance are freelancers, self-employed persons, civil servants, language students, and Studienkolleg!
